Hak-Soon Paik is appointed as the director of the Center for North Korean Studies at the Sejong Institute in Seoul and also the director of the Inter-Korean Relations Study Program. He is also member of several advisory bodies, like the South Korean government’s Committee for the Development of Inter-Korean Relations. Dr. Paik was formerly the Chairman of the Unification Policy Committee of South Korea’s Ministry of Unification, and the Chairman of the Ministry’s Policy Evaluation Committee. He also served as the Executive Director of the Seoul-Washington Forum, a news commentator for the Korean Broadcasting System (KBS), and the Vice President of the Korean Political Science Association. Dr. Paik has written extensively on North Korean politics, inter-Korean relations, Korean unification, and North Korea-U.S. relations including the North Korean nuclear issue.
