Keun-Sik Kim is research professor at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies at Kyungnam University since 2005. He obtained his Ph. D. in political science at Seoul National University. Apart from his academic career, he also took an active part in the political processes evolving around the Inter-Korean relations: In 2007 he was part of the entourage of President Roh Moo-Hyun for the 2nd Inter-Korean Summit and later, in 2011, he was an advisor of the presidential candidate An Cheol-Soo. His main fields of research include North Korean politics and economy and he has published numerous books and articles touching these fields, like: The evolution of tolerance politics towards North Korea (2011, Hanul Academy) or A Comprehensive Approach toward an Improvement of Human Rights in North Korea: An Social-integrative Perspective (Commission on Integration and Cohesion, 2011).
