Prof. Woo Young Lee is Assistant Professor at the Institute for Far Eastern Studies of the Kyungnam University and also the Director of Inter-Korean Cooperation there. Before that, he was an associate professor at the University of North Korean Studies in Seoul. His main area of research includes the society and culture of North Korea, as well as the sociology of knowledge and thought. Thus, he published several writings on these fields, e. g. Comparative Research on North and South Korean Culture (KINU 1994), Consistency and Change in the Literary Politics of Kim Jong-il (Minjok Tongil Yon’guwon 1997), or, more recently, North Korean Migrants: A Human Security Perspective (Asian Perspectives, Vol. 35, No. 1, 2011).
